Values
Uplifting queer stories: We champion queer voices and narratives in mainstream spaces, representing them with authenticity, creativity, and care. Visibility is power, and our work celebrates it.
Prioritise marginalised collaborators: We aim to work first with queer, neurodivergent, and marginalised artists and creatives. We also celebrate our neurotypical colleagues who help keep this beautiful ship afloat.
Collaborate with care: Our process is built on listening and mutual respect. We believe the strongest work comes from spaces where every voice is valued and supported.
Create with beauty and impact: We make circus, theatre, and dance that move people — visually striking, emotionally honest, and artistically bold. In the past two years, our shows have toured to over eleven countries, carrying these values with them.
Cross boundaries: Our work belongs everywhere: theatres, galleries, festivals, fashion runways, and public spaces. We make art that adapts, surprises, and connects across worlds.
BIO
Sadiq Ali is an Edinburgh-born contemporary circus artist and theatre-maker whose work blends breathtaking physicality with bold social storytelling. A graduate of London’s National Centre for Circus Arts, Sadiq is recognised for pushing the boundaries of circus performance through deeply personal and politically resonant narratives.
His acclaimed debut production, The Chosen Haram, explored themes of queer identity, faith, and addiction through an innovative fusion of aerial work, pole performance, and theatre. The show earned widespread praise for its honesty, emotional power, and its unflinching challenge to cultural and religious taboos.
In 2025, Sadiq premiered his second major work, Tell Me - for both outdoor and indoor spaces - a powerful piece addressing HIV stigma and lived experience. Through movement, storytelling, and striking visual imagery, the production sought to dismantle myths around HIV while championing empathy, visibility, and understanding.
Alongside his creative practice, Sadiq is committed to mentorship and advocacy, supporting greater representation of queer and diverse voices within the circus arts. His work continues to redefine contemporary circus, merging artistry and activism in performances that are both physically daring and emotionally resonant.
Sadiq Ali Company is produced by Turtle Key Arts.
Vision
Sadiq Ali Company creates contemporary circus and theatre that brings people together through movement, storytelling and truth.
To make work that lives at the intersection of spectacle and soul, celebrating difference, challenging stigma, and holding space for stories that are often left out. We believe circus is inherently more powerful than we give it credit and can be a language for empathy and connection. We look to make art which makes people feel seen, moved, and a part of something bigger.
We are a queer, neurodivergent led company, passionate about making rehearsal rooms and stages that are inclusive, kind, and alive. We collaborate with artists, communities, and audiences to build performances that are daring, heartfelt, and full of humanity.
At our best, we hope our work reminds people that courage and care can exist in the same breath, and that everybody has a story worth telling.
